Event Programming

Live in-person events are an exciting and important way to engage stakeholders, foster debate, introduce ideas, and create thought leadership. Here are some examples of the dozens of high-level thought leadership events I have programmed and managed, including speaker selection, themes, program, and implementation at some of the most prestigious venues, including during the United Nations General Assembly in New York City and the World Health Assembly in Geneva to the Boston Public Library and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and the Mandela Center of Remembrance in South Africa.

River Park, New York City, high level event during UN General Assembly Week
MSH recognized 10 leading public health professionals for their unique contributions to strengthening health systems worldwide.The honorees and presenters included people from governments, private sector, community health workers and civil society. The event, hosted by international journalist and television host Femi Oke, was held at Manhattan's Riverpark on September 20 in conjunction with the 71st United Nations General Assembly. Honorees included the Ministers of Health from Japan and Liberia and UHC2030, among others.I managed all aspects of this event from programming, speaker selection, venue, to the guest list.

A Toast to Universal Health Coverage »

River Park, New York City, high level event during UN General Assembly Week
During UN General Assembly high-level week, MSH celebrated the global movement for universal health coverage (UHC). This cocktail and networking reception was cohosted by the UN Permanent Missions of Japan and Rwanda, in coordination with the World Bank and World Health Organization. It featured remarks from UHC thought leaders such as Ariel Pablos Mendez, Michael Myers, Tim Evans, Katja Iversen, Sonia Nishtar, among others.  Special Guest: Yvonne Chaka Chaka, President, Princess of Africa Foundation. Ebola’s Next Chapter »

Boston Public Library
A discussion on Ebola, Epidemics, and Rebuilding Health Systems with Dr. Peter Piot (co-discoverer of the Ebola virus) and Dr. Jonathan D. Quick (President and CEO of MSH) at the Boston Public Library Map Room Cafe. The discussion took place on March 20, 2015 and was moderated by the Boston Globe's Stefanie Friedhoff. Envisioning a World Where Everyone has the Opportunity for a Healthy Life »

Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston

In conjunction with the American Public Health Association’s annual meeting, I organized this  photography exhibit and panel discussion in conjunction with WBUR , Boston’s NPR radio station. I produced and directed this event, moderated by Tom Ashbrook of NPR's "On Point", featuring: Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA), US House of Representatives; Professor Peter Anyang' Nyong'O, former Minister of Health, Kenya; Priya Bery, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, TOMS; and Dr. Jonathan D. Ready Together Conference on Epidemic Preparedeness »

I was one of the main organizers of this conference, handling logistics, program, venue, and communications coverage. The event was a day-long symposium at Harvard Medical School on pandemic preparedness with speakers from the public and private sector.
