Barbara Ayotte is a storyteller and writer/editor, known for enhancing brands and engaging key stakeholders with creative and compelling content. Barbara has managed and motivated high-performing communications and advocacy teams including the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), and the global health nonprofit, Management Sciences for Health (MSH). She edits a leading global documentary photography magazine and works with photographers to raise awareness of global issues through digital strategies and gallery exhibitions.

Barbara is a:

  • Trusted strategic communications advisor to CEOs and Vice Presidents. She has modernized and supervised the communications departments at four leading organizations and led internal communications and change management initiatives for thousands of employees.

  • Chief media strategist and spokesperson for co-recipients of 1997 Nobel Peace Prize. She has cultivated relationships with journalists at prominent local, national and international media outlets and written, pitched and placed hundreds of news stories, opinion pieces and influencer conversations. She has managed press conferences and high-level thought events.

  • Writer/Editor of more than 200 global health and human rights publications and printed materials, three complex websites and social media platforms, dozens of videos, and three innovative advocacy campaigns She is editor of ZEKE Magazine (www.zekemagazine.com), the leading global documentary magazine. She has a track record of tripling stakeholder engagement on diverse digital platforms.

  • Programmer of dozens of high-profile educational and advocacy events at the United Nations in New York City and Geneva to Capitol Hill in Washington DC to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. She has curated documentary photography gallery exhibitions in Boston,Brooklyn, the Bronx, Portland, ME, and other locations.

  • Crisis communications officer, performing hands-on crisis communications planning and messaging for various complex emergencies at leading nonprofits, working with teams in over 35 developing countries in Africa and Asia.
